joy_mariazellInternationally renowned speakers, bishops and other clergy and religious, LCI alumni, benefactors, and friends gathered at the Kartause for the 2015 LCI Symposium: Mission and Joy of the Gospel.
Keynote speaker Fr. Michael Gaitley, MIC, inspired Symposium participants with his message of God’s mercy experienced through Marian consecration.
Cardinal Schönborn, Archbishop of Vienna, eloquently articulated what it means to evangelize: the one thing truly necessary for evangelization is the personal encounter with Jesus Christ. Numerous programs, the quality of catechetical material or sacramental preparation cannot replace that experience. It is the event of meeting Jesus Christ which brings joy, and from which, then, all evangelization activities must follow.
Several other speakers shared their faith and years of experience in evangelizing in the areas of formation of young adults, family life, and the Eastern Churches. Click here for videos of the main talks.
The day’s program concluded with a joy-filled gala celebration which included a wine-tasting, a gourmet meal – cooked in part by LCI alumni – a live art performance, and a classical music concert. All in all, it was a fitting manifestation of the JOY of our Faith!
This Symposium was made possible through the generous support of the Our Sunday Visitor Institute.
