Dickensian London was once more brought to life at the Kartause, on the first weekend of December, when the LCI Players performed A Christmas Carol for the community here, in what has become a well-loved Advent tradition.

The atmospherically cold Bibliothek was full to capacity on Saturday evening and the lively audience, wrapped in coats and scarves and sipping mugs of steaming gluhwein (spiced wine), were soon warmed by the sincerity and the determination of the cast, many of whom have only been studying English since August. Laughter roared frequently and moving moments abounded as the LCI students and faculty, along with children from the Kartause families and a couple of well disguised Franciscan professors, delivered a performance beyond everyone’s expectations!
